Via Vandelli – Official Guidebook in Italian
170 km on foot from Modena and Sassuolo to Massa
Duke Francesco III d’Este dreamed of connecting his Modena with Massa and the sea. Thus began Domenico Vandelli’s enterprise: to cross the Apennines and Apuane Alps to build the first great carriage road of the Enlightenment.
A story of nobles, brilliant engineers, brigands and partisans, to be rediscovered in a 7-day walk between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
The Via Vandelli today is a path through perched villages and breathtaking mountains, up to the Tambura Pass, where the view opens onto the blue Tyrrhenian Sea, the destination of this journey.
The guide contains all the information needed to set out on the journey: detailed maps, altimetry, height differences, places to sleep, descriptions of the route and places to visit.
A guide for everyone as pilgrims, trekkers, wayfarers and for those who want to experience even short stretches along one of the most ascending and undiscovered itineraries.
